POSITION SUMMARY:
This role is integral to managing key procurement activities that ensure adherence to delivery schedules, quality standards, and customer satisfaction for CPM. Responsibilities encompass daily purchasing tasks, including negotiating terms, issuing purchase orders, expediting orders, handling material returns, and tracking/reporting on materials, alongside other assigned duties. This position is crucial for meeting customer deadlines while optimizing budgetary constraints.

SUPERVISORY DUTIES:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Procure designated materials and/or services for CPM, collaborating with the Purchasing Manager and fellow Buyers to leverage strategic suppliers when necessary.
  • Source, negotiate, and acquire products and/or services competitively, covering both inventory and non-inventory purchases under supervision.
  • Maintain the MRP/ERP system in relation to procurement activities.
  • Review daily material shortage reports; expedite anticipated shortages and overdue items with suppliers, updating delivery dates in the ERP system.
  • Ensure compliance with delivery timelines, guaranteeing materials arrive on or before the required dates.
  • Provide administrative support as directed, including pulling engineering drawings and distributing communications.
  • Adhere to standardized processes and maintain necessary reports.
  • Communicate clearly with suppliers regarding CPM's delivery, quality, and customer support expectations.
  • Maintain procurement records, tracking costs, delivery performance, and product/service quality.
  • Uphold the highest ethical standards while following CPM policies and safety guidelines.
  • Regularly communicate material issues impacting customer deadlines with relevant teams.
  • Participate in team meetings to discuss material needs and resolve related challenges.
  • Follow Quality Management System processes, managing supplier approvals and addressing non-conformance issues.
  • Monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) such as On-Time Delivery performance, Supplier Quality, cost savings, and inventory turnover.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Solid understanding of procurement principles and processes.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Team-oriented with a high-energy approach and excellent communication skills.
  • Proficient in ERP systems and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills for internal and external interactions.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Familiarity with purchasing functions in an Engineered to Order environment.
  • Experience in custom manufacturing or small volume production.
  • Background in a fast-paced, customer service-oriented company.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma with an Associate's Degree.
  • 1 to 3 years of experience in Supply Chain or Purchasing within a manufacturing context.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. (office equipment).
  • Prolonged periods of sitting.
  • Walking and effective communication skills.
