Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and attentive Host/Hostess to join our team at NoMo SoHo. As a Host/Hostess, you will be responsible for ensuring the prompt recognition and seating of all guests in our outlets, as well as assisting servers in providing exceptional service to our guests throughout their dining experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Greet and Seat Guests: Greet and seat guests at appropriate tables in a timely manner, ensuring a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
  • Provide Exceptional Service: Be attentive to guests' needs and assist in providing a pleasant dining experience, ensuring that all guests feel valued and cared for.
  • Assist Cashier: Assist the cashier in the collection of payment for all guest transactions, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
  • Prepare Cashier Report: Know how to prepare the cashier report at the end of the shift, ensuring that all transactions are accurately recorded.
  • Pay Out Tips: Pay out servers' and service attendants' tips if appropriate, ensuring that all team members are fairly compensated.
  • Take Reservations: Know how to properly take reservations for outlets, ensuring that all guests are accommodated.
  • Ensure Quality Control: Ensure quality control of menus with regard to cleanliness and appearance, ensuring that all menus are presented in a clean and attractive manner.
  • Perform Opening and Closing Duties: Perform opening and closing duties according to established sidework checklist, ensuring that all areas are properly cleaned and prepared for the next shift.
  • Knowledge of Menus and Specials: Have a thorough knowledge of menus and current specials in all applicable departments, ensuring that all guests are informed of available options.
  • Assist Servers and Cashiers: Assist servers and cashiers in the servicing of guests as needed, ensuring that all guests receive exceptional service.
  • State Liquor Laws: Know and understand the state liquor laws, ensuring that all guests are served responsibly.
  • Guest Satisfaction: Ensure overall guest satisfaction, ensuring that all guests leave with a positive experience.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma: High school diploma and/or experience in a hotel or a related field preferred.
  • Flexible Scheduling: Flexible and long hours sometimes required, ensuring that all guests are accommodated.
  • Light Work: Light work - exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
  • Standing: Ability to stand during entire shift, ensuring that all guests are served efficiently.
  • Effective Communication: Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and written, with all level of employees and guests in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service-oriented manner.
  • Problem-Solving: Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying concerns raised by employees and guests.
  • Approach to Guests and Employees: Approach all encounters with guests and employees in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service-oriented manner.
  • Regular Attendance: Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Highgate Hotel Standards, as required by scheduling, which will vary according to the needs of the hotel.
  • Personal Appearance: Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which includes wearing the proper uniform and nametag.
  • Compliance with Hotel Standards: Comply with Highgate Hotel Standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.
  • Productivity: Maximize efforts towards productivity, identify problem areas and assist in implementing solutions.
  • Problem-Solving: Must be able to show initiative, including anticipating guest or operational needs.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other duties as requested by management.
  • Attitude and Demeanor: Maintain a friendly and warm demeanor at all times.
Compensation

Hourly Rate: $16 - $18
