Job Overview

Salary: $23.00/hr.

Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Financial Services Manager, the Accounting Specialist plays a crucial role in the financial operations of Mathews Brothers Co. This position is responsible for processing transactions, managing invoicing and billing, and maintaining customer accounts while ensuring seamless integration of invoices into the accounting system.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee customer accounts, including the application of payments.
  • Generate financial statements at the conclusion of each month.
  • Produce aging reports and implement finance charges as necessary.
  • Digitally archive packing slips, deposits, and other financial documents.
  • Ensure accurate integration of invoices into the accounting software.
  • Handle invoices and reconcile them with purchase orders.
  • Assist in the preparation of documentation for tax submissions.
  • Conduct general accounting tasks, including the creation and maintenance of spreadsheets.
  • Manage incoming phone inquiries and direct them to the appropriate personnel.
  • Welcome and direct visitors to the office as required.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Carry out other related tasks as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

  • High School Diploma is required.
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in accounting or finance.
  • Proficient in the use of modern office equipment and procedures.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
  • Able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
  • Excellent organizational skills are essential.

Supervisory Role

  • This position does not include supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

  • Standard office environment, not exposed to extreme temperatures, noise, or odors.
  • Regular use of computer equipment, including screens, mice, and keyboards.
  • Extended periods of sitting are required.
  • Occasional lifting and moving of items up to 25 pounds may be necessary.
