Senior Financial Analyst

About the Role
The Senior Accountant will assist the Accounting Manager in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the accounting department and ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial records for all MaineHealth corporations.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain expertise through ongoing training and education, including mandatory in-services.
- Review and approve accounting documents prepared by personnel.
- Reconcile general ledger account balances.
- Process contract labor staff for all companies.
- Collaborate with the Accounting team on Retirement Association work, including financial statements, audit work, and presentations.
- Assist with monthly expense variance analysis.
- Prepare financial statements for all corporations.
- Distribute financial reports to Administrators and department managers.
- Monitor account balances and investigate unusual transactions.
- Support annual audits, tax returns, and cost reports.
- Ensure compliance with external reporting requirements.
- Prepare journal entries and submit for approval.
- Complete special projects as directed.
- Exercise independent judgment in monitoring for red flags regarding identity theft prevention.
Requirements
- Education: Degree in Business Administration or Accounting.
- License/Certifications: N/A
- Experience: 3 to 5 years' experience in accounting, with healthcare experience preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong technical skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
