Position Summary
Under the supervision of the Financial Services Manager, the Accounting Specialist plays a crucial role in the financial management of transactions for Mathews Brothers Co. This position entails overseeing invoicing and billing processes, maintaining customer financial records, and ensuring the seamless integration of invoices into the accounting system.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage customer accounts, including the application of payments.
- Generate monthly financial statements.
- Prepare aging reports and apply finance charges as necessary.
- Digitally archive packing slips, deposits, and other financial documents.
- Ensure accurate integration of invoices into the accounting software.
- Oversee invoice management and reconciliation with purchase orders.
- Assist in the preparation of documentation for tax submissions.
- Conduct general accounting tasks, including the creation and maintenance of spreadsheets.
- Handle incoming phone inquiries and direct them to the appropriate staff.
- Welcome and direct visitors to the office as needed.
Additional Responsibilities
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma required.
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in accounting or finance.
- Proficient in modern office equipment and procedures.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
- Excellent organizational skills.
Supervisory Role
- This position does not include supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
- Typical office setting, not exposed to extreme temperatures, noise, or odors.
- Regular use of computer equipment, including screen, mouse, and keyboard.
- Extended periods of sitting required.
- Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds may be necessary.
