With the support of Clerks, the Grocery Procurement Specialist aims to provide a superior shopping experience for a diverse customer base.
This position is a Full-Time role, requiring 40 hours per week across 5 shifts.
Key ResponsibilitiesProduct Selection and Customer Engagement
- Curates a well-rounded selection of grocery items that meets sales objectives while delivering outstanding customer service.
- Stays informed about industry trends, customer preferences, and product performance to effectively manage the department.
- Maintains awareness of pricing strategies to ensure product accessibility for all customers.
- Aims to achieve quarterly financial targets, including sales, margins, and labor costs.
- Places orders in accordance with guidelines to sustain consistent inventory levels.
- Handles special orders with care, ensuring products are available and priced correctly, while adhering to customer communication protocols.
- Monitors department waste and implements strategies to mitigate negative trends.
Collaboration with Management and Marketing
- Works under the guidance of the Grocery Manager to coordinate with Merchandising and Marketing teams to fulfill store-wide objectives.
- Ensures shelves are fully stocked and merchandise is presented attractively to enhance the shopping experience.
- Participates in planning and executing seasonal promotions, leveraging knowledge of trends and product availability.
- Exemplifies leadership in maintaining high merchandising standards throughout promotional events.
Financial and Inventory Management
- Maintains accurate financial and inventory records to support departmental and store-wide data tracking and pricing strategies.
- Adheres to procedures for receiving products, processing invoices, and documenting spoilage.
- Sets and reviews pricing to align with departmental and store-wide margin goals, taking corrective actions as necessary.
- Regularly assesses sales performance and implements actions to meet sales objectives.
- Participates in quarterly inventory assessments.
Safety and Cleanliness Standards
- Collaborates with the Store Service Team to ensure a safe, clean, and appealing grocery department.
- Assists in scheduling routine cleaning and maintenance tasks, performing them as needed.
- Reports any equipment or fixture malfunctions to management and suggests repairs or replacements as necessary.
- Leads initiatives to uphold safety and sanitation standards within the department.

Preferred:
- Experience in merchandising and retail sales.
- Background in natural foods retail, particularly in ordering and stocking.
- Ability to articulate retail concepts such as revenue and margin.

- Aptitude for following written and verbal instructions.
- Skill in balancing multiple tasks and competing priorities.

Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate effectively.
