Position Overview:
Berklee College of Music is seeking an innovative individual to take on the role of Educational Services Associate at our vibrant campus.

Work Environment:


Berklee's campus is a versatile space that includes graduate programs, summer courses, and the renowned Power Station, the largest professional recording studio in the area, catering to clients in the music, film, theater, and television sectors.

The Master of Arts in Creative Media and Technology program is crafted to equip students with the essential tools and strategies to excel in ever-evolving artistic domains.

The core curriculum is designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of both the business and creative aspects of the performing arts.

The graduate program offers three specializations:
Live Music Production and Design, Songwriting and Production, and Writing and Production for Musical Theater. Power Station at Berklee is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities for both commercial and academic use.

With five recording studios, a black box theater, and various spaces such as video control rooms, classrooms, and labs, Berklee offers a wide range of services for recording, education, events, and performances.

This facility operates continuously, serving both professional clients and full-time students, making it a truly hybrid commercial and educational venue.


Key Responsibilities:


Reporting to the Assistant Director of Academic Technology, Educational Services Associates play a crucial role in supporting the academic operations at Berklee.

In collaboration with faculty, staff, and students, you will assist with various tasks, including classroom setup and breakdown, facilitating daily educational functions, and providing logistical support for academic staff and faculty.

Success in this position requires strong communication skills, teamwork, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic environment.

Attention to detail, a solid understanding of audio, video, and lighting equipment, and familiarity with educational practices are essential.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing the opening and closing of academic facilities
  • Setting up and dismantling classrooms and educational events
  • Arranging instruments, backline, microphones, and audio equipment
  • Installing lighting fixtures and operating lighting consoles
  • Moving and setting up video equipment
  • Maintaining educational technology labs
  • Providing technical support for classes and events
  • Addressing technical needs of faculty and students
  • Overseeing student employees and their schedules
  • Conducting inventory and stocking supplies
  • Ensuring cleanliness of academic spaces
  • Assisting with upgrades and installations in facilities
  • Creating and maintaining documentation for academic equipment

Qualifications:


Ideal candidates will demonstrate:

  • A willingness to work independently and collaboratively
  • A degree in media, recording, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of DAWs, audio interfaces, and MIDI
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities

Preferred Skills:


Experience in live performance lighting, video, and sound is highly desirable. Familiarity with basic video systems and live sound is a significant advantage.
