Role Details:
  • Full-time position | Monday to Friday
  • Working hours: 8:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M.
Key ResponsibilitiesIEP Coordination
  • Facilitate referrals for students requiring special education placements through collaboration with the Central Based Support Team.
  • Serve as a liaison with Committee on Special Education (CSE) teams for students needing special education services. Attend necessary meetings.
  • Participate in school-based teams for the evaluation and placement of incoming students.
  • Review external evaluation materials for thoroughness and accuracy.
  • Assess students' developmental profiles to recommend suitable placements and ensure goals are relevant.
  • Conduct observations to evaluate students' interactions and identify their needs for a supportive learning environment.
  • Oversee educational programming, ensuring staff understand their roles in implementing IEPs, and collect progress reports for updates and reviews as required.
  • Contribute to the development of IEPs to guarantee their completeness and relevance.
Curriculum Coordination
  • Collaborate with the School Principal and teaching staff to design and implement a curriculum aligned with New York State standards, informed by assessment data to enhance student readiness and academic achievement.
  • Research and recommend curriculum projects and materials that address students' learning needs effectively.
  • Support teaching staff in lesson planning, instructional strategies, and classroom management.
  • Provide direct assistance in the classroom to implement effective teaching methodologies.
  • Work closely with educators to ensure they receive adequate training and professional development through workshops focused on instructional best practices.

Compensation

Annual Salary: $78,197 - $80,340

Qualifications

Applicants must possess a New York State Certification in Special Education and have a minimum of five years of experience working with students with disabilities. A School-Based Leader Certification is also required.
