Grade: 18

Salary: $64,928 - $75,000

The New York State Psychiatric Institute is seeking a dedicated professional to take on the role of Primary Clinician/ Supported Education Employment Specialist. This position is part of the OnTrack NY Program, a Coordinated Specialty Care (CSC) initiative designed to assist adolescents and young adults facing early psychosis. Our aim is to empower these individuals to navigate their experiences and pursue their aspirations in education, employment, and personal relationships. We prioritize equity, inclusion, and self-determination in all our efforts.

The role of the Primary Clinician/ Supported Education Employment Specialist is a full-time, on-site position. Responsibilities will be divided equally between providing clinical support to program participants and their families, and assisting participants in achieving their educational and employment goals. The OnTrack NY model emphasizes a recovery-oriented, youth-friendly approach, fostering a collaborative team environment, maintaining a manageable participant load, and offering ongoing training and support.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Acting as the Primary Clinician/ Supported Education Employment Specialist for assigned program participants, which includes conducting assessments, treatment planning, risk assessment, safety planning, individual therapy, care management, and family services.
  2. Engaging participants to build trusting relationships aimed at facilitating their educational and employment objectives, collaborating with team members to provide necessary support, and offering job development and search services tailored to participants' interests.
  3. Providing assistance with educational transitions, including liaising with schools and colleges, and ensuring access to entitlement counseling for participants and their families.
  4. Participating actively in team meetings and ensuring timely documentation of all services rendered.
  5. Completing required data reporting for program evaluation and fidelity assessment.
  6. Demonstrating proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Word and Outlook.
  7. Participating in an on-call rotation to provide after-hours support for urgent clinical situations.
  8. Performing additional tasks as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Must possess a Licensed Masters in a relevant clinical field such as social work or mental health counseling.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience working with adolescents and/or adults diagnosed with mental health conditions.
  2. Background in providing educational or employment services.
  3. Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.
