Sanctuary for Families stands as New York's foremost provider and advocate for individuals overcoming domestic violence, sex trafficking, and other forms of gender-based violence. Each year, we empower countless adults and children to transition from fear and abuse to safety and stability, transforming lives through a comprehensive array of services. Our organization offers a variety of wrap-around services designed to assist survivors in rebuilding their lives following abuse, while also striving to eradicate gender violence through three primary strategies: direct services, outreach and training, and advocacy for systemic change. Our services are accessible across 12 locations throughout New York City.
POSITION SUMMARY
THIS ROLE IS HYBRID
The Case Manager plays a crucial role within Sanctuary for Families' Anti-Trafficking Initiative (ATI), recognized as one of the leading service providers for survivors of human trafficking and related forms of gender-based violence nationwide. In addition to offering legal support, ATI provides clients with a broad spectrum of social, case management, and advocacy services. This role requires working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment that often responds to crises, while learning to navigate various systems, including law enforcement (both federal and state), public housing, public assistance, and collaborating with partner organizations, all while managing a substantial caseload.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct comprehensive needs assessments and formulate personalized service plans tailored to the unique requirements of each client.
- Coordinate case management services under the guidance of the ATI Senior Supervising Clinician.
- Provide immediate support and intervention for clients in crisis, facilitating referrals and placements such as shelter and medical care to ensure their safety.
- Assist clients in securing safe and stable housing, including enrollment in NYC housing programs and coordination of temporary shelter as necessary.
- Guide clients in applying for and obtaining public benefits, including Medicaid, food assistance, cash support, and childcare subsidies.
- Offer job readiness assistance, encompassing resume development, job search support, and connections to job training programs.
- Support clients in accessing educational opportunities, including ESL classes, GED programs, and higher education pathways.
- Connect clients with essential services, including legal aid, healthcare, mental health support, and educational resources.
- Prepare requests for educational and financial assistance grants on behalf of clients.
- Advocate for clients with service providers, government entities, and other organizations to ensure they receive the necessary support and services.
- Collaborate with the Senior Supervising Clinician and/or ATI Director to fulfill grant reporting and compliance obligations for ATI funders.
- Maintain and update electronic client records in Salesforce promptly. Provide additional administrative support services for ATI as needed.
- Undertake other department or agency-related tasks or special projects as directed by the ATI Senior Supervising Clinician and/or the Director of the Anti-Trafficking Initiative.
QUALIFICATIONS
- B.A. or relevant work experience is required.
- Fluency in Spanish is preferred; fluency in other relevant community languages is desirable.
- Ability to engage respectfully with clients from diverse cultural, ethnic, and socio-economic backgrounds.
- Sensitivity to the experiences of sexual exploitation, domestic violence, and other forms of gender-related abuse.
- Experience working with immigrants, survivors of sexual violence, and individuals who have experienced trauma.
- Understanding of the dynamics of gender-based oppression and a strong commitment to combating gender-based violence.
- Familiarity with NYC public benefits programs.
- Capacity to multitask and prioritize effectively.
- Strong ability to work independently.
- Excellent judgment and problem-solving skills.
- Outstanding writing and editing capabilities.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- Robust work ethic and a positive, solution-oriented attitude, even under pressure.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
- Hourly rate: $31.95 per hour ($52,650 - $58,158 base annualized), with a step scale based on experience, in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement.
- Full-time position (35 hours/week); Hourly/Non-Exempt.
