Opportunities for Involvement:
We believe that every staff member plays a crucial role in student education. Therefore, we offer various opportunities for Educational Support Specialists to engage in enriching activities such as:
- Early drop-off and after-school programs
- Enrichment activities, sports, and arts
- Family engagement initiatives and community partnerships
- Participation in in-house committees and special programs.
- Professional development sessions during the day, including inquiry-based work, intervisitations, collaborative planning, and discussions. Advance notice will be provided for these sessions, and participation will be compensated according to the relevant agreements.
While participation in these activities is voluntary, it is highly encouraged as it significantly contributes to the growth of our school community.
Eligibility Criteria:
Candidates must possess a Level 1 NYSED Teaching Assistant Certificate if hired after 2004. Those hired before 2004 and currently on the DOE payroll are also eligible for this role.

- Supporting an inclusive educational environment for English Language learners and students requiring special education services
- Assisting students within the classroom setting
- Contributing to the documentation and observation of student progress
- Collaborating with teachers to provide targeted, small group, and individualized instructional support
- Aiding in the implementation of an integrated curriculum that centers on student needs
- Fostering a learning atmosphere that addresses students' emotional and social requirements through conflict resolution and collaborative activities.
- Seeking professional development opportunities and contributing to the growth of fellow educators.
