Lead Clinician for Supported Education and Employment

The New York State Psychiatric Institute is actively seeking a dedicated professional to assume the role of Lead Clinician for Supported Education and Employment. This full-time position is integral to the Washington Heights Community Service, specifically within the OnTrack NY Program, a pioneering Coordinated Specialty Care (CSC) initiative designed for adolescents and young adults facing early psychosis. Our objective is to empower these individuals to navigate their experiences and achieve their aspirations in education, employment, and personal relationships. Central to our mission are principles of equity, inclusion, and self-determination.
Role Overview:
The Lead Clinician for Supported Education and Employment will engage in a dual role, dedicating 50% of their time to delivering clinical support to program participants and their families, while the remaining 50% will focus on facilitating participants' educational and vocational goals. The OnTrack NY framework emphasizes a hopeful, youth-centric, recovery-oriented approach, fostering a collaborative team environment with manageable participant loads and ongoing professional development opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Acting as the Lead Clinician for a designated group of program participants, which entails: conducting comprehensive assessments and treatment planning; evaluating risk and developing safety strategies; providing individual therapy, care management, and family support; delivering community-based services as necessary; and assisting participants in transitioning to alternative services.
- Serving as the Supported Education and Employment Specialist for a selected group of participants, which includes: engaging participants to build trusting, collaborative relationships aimed at educational and employment success; working alongside team members to deliver SEE support within the program framework; offering job development and search assistance tailored to participants' interests; facilitating access to educational resources and liaising with academic institutions; and providing entitlements counseling for participants and their families.
- Collaborating closely with team members and contributing to weekly team meetings.
- Ensuring prompt and accurate documentation of all services rendered.
- Completing necessary data reporting for program evaluation and fidelity assessment.
- Demonstrating computer proficiency, particularly in Microsoft Word, and possessing the ability to learn Microsoft Outlook.
- Participating in an on-call rotation to provide after-hours support for urgent clinical matters.
- Performing additional tasks as assigned.
- Master's degree in a relevant clinical field (social work, mental health counseling, or similar).
- Experience working with adolescents and/or adults diagnosed with mental health conditions.
- Background in providing employment or educational services.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.
This position is based at the New York State Psychiatric Institute.
