The Utilities Manager is essential for the effective delivery of a significant rail line extension initiative. This role entails the management of comprehensive planning, coordination, and execution of utility protection and relocation efforts.

We are looking for a highly qualified individual with extensive experience in overseeing intricate utility relocation assignments within the transportation domain. Candidates should have substantial expertise in designing and coordinating the relocation of diverse utilities, such as gas, communication, and steam lines, within public right-of-way zones. A robust background in supporting rail-related projects is crucial.

This position demands a strategic mindset coupled with outstanding project management and stakeholder engagement abilities. The successful applicant will be tasked with formulating and executing innovative strategies to navigate challenges and guarantee the punctual completion of utility relocation tasks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish and nurture strong relationships with utility providers to ensure project coherence.
  • Formulate and implement a strategic framework for utility relocation, encompassing scope definition, procurement, and execution.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to evaluate and endorse utility work plans.
  • Oversee utility contractor performance and deliverables.
  • Conduct cost assessments and negotiate contracts for relocation initiatives.
  • Maintain meticulous records of utility-related communications and activities.
  • Acquire a thorough understanding of the client's utility relocation protocols.
  • Perform engineering calculations as necessary for project specifications.
  • Prepare detailed reports, design specifications, and bidding documents.
  • Encourage effective collaboration with both internal and external teams.
  • Adhere to rigorous health and safety standards.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in utility relocation for roadway or transportation projects. Proven experience in managing design teams on large-scale infrastructure assignments.
  • Demonstrated success in liaising with third-party utility companies.
  • Strong grasp of rail project delivery and industry benchmarks.
  • Proficiency in engineering calculations and design software.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a dynamic environment.
