Job Opportunities:
Urenco Group is seeking a Lead Mechanical Design Engineer to join our innovative team. As a pioneer in uranium enrichment for the civil nuclear sector, we operate at the forefront of the transition to sustainable energy solutions.

In this role, you will be integral to our mission, contributing to the Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) for various projects across the organization.

Your responsibilities will include serving as the Mechanical lead engineer, focusing on the development of Conceptual and Basic Designs for new construction or modifications to existing facilities.

You will oversee design progression and provide guidance to external engineering service providers.

Your role will also involve the formulation of Urenco Group design standards, ensuring compliance with world-class safety regulations and site licensing requirements, thus enhancing our competitive edge in the Nuclear Enrichment sector.

Key Responsibilities:

Design Development:
Create and present conceptual designs and detailed specifications, emphasizing mechanical systems and equipment. Lead the formulation of basic design packages for Core Plant Technology (CPT).

Safety and Regulatory Compliance:

Foster a culture of safety by conducting safety analyses and incorporating lessons learned from the nuclear sector into advanced plant designs. Ensure adherence to industry best practices and safety standards.


Project Coordination:

Organize and manage mechanical design elements, contributing to feasibility assessments, option analyses, and the selection of optimal technology solutions.


Supplier Engagement:

Guide and supervise suppliers during the detailed design phase, ensuring alignment with project specifications and industry benchmarks.


Technical Leadership:

Establish and uphold mechanical design expertise within the Core Plant Technology (CPT) framework, utilizing Urenco's leading safety practices and state-of-the-art technology.


Standards and Regulations:
Develop, manage, and maintain group reference designs and safety case standards, ensuring compliance with UF6 enrichment requirements, support systems, and deconversion processes, in alignment with UTD activities.

Post-Implementation Evaluation:

Conduct reviews of mechanical systems following implementation, ensuring that feedback is integrated into design processes from safety, licensing compliance, operational, and asset management perspectives.

Qualifications:

Essential:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Desirable:
Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Experience:
Proven track record in developing conceptual and basic designs for mechanical components, equipment, and systems within complex processing environments.

Leadership:
Significant experience in plant and component design at a senior level.

Analytical Skills:
Ability to apply innovative solutions to challenges, enhancing organizational learning and development.

Industry Knowledge:
Specialized mechanical design expertise in the nuclear or processing industries.
