Manufacturing Operations Superintendent

Location: Richmond, IN

Relocation Assistance: Available

Competitive Compensation: Approximately $126K plus Bonus – Leading National Corporation

The Manufacturing Operations Superintendent plays a pivotal role in managing the production processes, ensuring the quality of finished goods, and overseeing the management of raw materials across multiple production lines operating 24/7. This position also focuses on employee training and development, while actively supporting corporate objectives related to safety, productivity, and product quality. The superintendent may also take on the responsibilities of the Plant Manager during their absence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee product manufacturing, quality assurance of finished products, and raw material management for the facility.
  • Supervise manufacturing personnel to achieve production targets and assist in budget preparation and cost measurement standards.
  • Establish and manage controls for material and labor usage.
  • Plan and schedule operations to optimize equipment utilization and maintain high productivity levels.
  • Utilize operational metrics to manage product costs, material usage, machine downtime, and other shift-related functions.
  • Proactively enhance safety performance by aiming for a zero OSHA incident rate and minimizing lost time accidents.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field with at least 5 years of operational leadership experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • Successful candidates will demonstrate strong leadership capabilities and possess an engineering or technical background.
  • Proven track record in establishing effective process systems.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership abilities with a proven capacity to diagnose and resolve process-related issues.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with the Plant Leadership team.
  • Demonstrated capability to lead change initiatives and implement continuous improvement strategies.
  • Familiarity with SAP or ERP systems is essential.
  • Responsible for managing a team of 6 salaried employees, including performance evaluations, compensation reviews, hiring, and terminations.

Essential Skills and Certifications:

Bachelor's degree in engineering

IDEAL CANDIDATE: This role is crucial for the Richmond Plant. We seek a strong people leader with an Engineering background to guide a team of six salaried employees (3 engineers, a degreed general supervisor, and 2 process technicians) and to become proficient with the Sorg (Glass Furnace). A strong preference is given to candidates with an engineering degree and experience in engineering systems to ensure the effectiveness of process systems. The ideal candidate will possess excellent interpersonal skills to foster a positive culture and collaborate effectively with all plant personnel.
