Manufacturing Operations Superintendent

Location: Richmond, IN

Relocation Assistance: Available

Compensation: Competitive Salary [approximately $126K] plus Bonus – Prestigious National Corporation

The Manufacturing Operations Superintendent plays a pivotal role in managing the production process, ensuring the quality of finished goods, and overseeing raw material management across multiple production lines in a continuous 24-hour operation. This position also encompasses employee training and development responsibilities. The superintendent is tasked with aligning and promoting corporate objectives and facility targets concerning safety, productivity, and product quality, while effectively addressing and resolving operational challenges and personnel issues. In the absence of the Plant Manager, the superintendent may assume their responsibilities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee product manufacturing, quality assurance of finished products, and raw material oversight for the facility
  • Direct manufacturing resources to achieve production targets and assist in budget preparation and cost measurement standards
  • Establish and manage controls and metrics for material and labor usage
  • Plan and schedule operations to optimize equipment use and maintain peak productivity
  • Utilize operational indicators to manage product costs, material consumption, machine downtime, and other shift-related functions
  • Proactively enhance safety performance by striving for a zero OSHA incident rate and minimizing lost time accidents

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field with a minimum of 5 years of operational leadership experience in a manufacturing setting
  • Ideal candidates will exhibit strong leadership qualities with a technical or engineering background
  • Demonstrated capability to establish effective process systems
  • Strong supervisory and leadership abilities with a proven track record in diagnosing and resolving process-related issues
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with the Plant Leadership team
  • Proven experience in leading change and implementing continuous improvement initiatives
  • Familiarity with SAP or ERP systems
  • Responsible for managing a team of 6 salaried employees, including performance evaluations, compensation reviews, hiring, and terminations.

Bachelor's degree in engineering

IDEAL CANDIDATE: This role is crucial for the Richmond Plant. We seek a strong people leader with an Engineering background to guide a team of six salaried employees (3 engineers, a degreed general supervisor, and 2 process technicians) and to become proficient with the Sorg (Glass Furnace). A strong preference exists for candidates with an engineering degree and experience in engineering systems to ensure the effectiveness of process systems. The role involves developing daily monitoring checks and routines to enhance operational efficiency. Exceptional interpersonal skills are essential to foster a positive culture and collaborate effectively with all plant personnel.
