Position Summary:

The Service Operations Supervisor is responsible for managing service activities within the dealership to guarantee satisfaction for both internal and external customers. This role focuses on enhancing profitable service labor sales while maintaining strict expense management. The supervisor plays a crucial role in attracting, retaining, and effectively engaging service department personnel.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assigns tasks and work areas to service department employees based on their skills and expertise.
  • Facilitates the training and development of service staff, conducting regular performance evaluations and monitoring efficiency and productivity metrics.
  • Implements and oversees effective service department processes to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Tracks monthly service sales to meet budgeted sales and profit objectives.
  • Contributes to the creation and execution of the Corporate Service Marketing Strategy.
  • Participates in customer engagement events and promotional activities as required.
  • Reviews service orders for accuracy and completeness prior to billing.
  • Ensures timely submission of service warranty and Product Improvement Program claims to maximize credit; collaborates with corporate management to resolve issues promptly.
  • Maintains all departmental tools, equipment, and vehicles in optimal condition.
  • Oversees recruitment, staffing, and development initiatives for team members.
  • May assist corporate management in developing departmental processes and annual budget planning.
Qualifications:

Experience and Skills:
  • Minimum of 3 years in service department management.
  • Proficient in standard desktop applications, including Microsoft Office.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with John Deere and competitive products.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret internal performance reports.
  • Willingness to work extended hours and weekends as needed.
  • Exceptional customer service abilities.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience.
Physical Requirements:

The physical demands of this position include the ability to lift and/or move up to 80 pounds, prolonged periods of standing or sitting, and the capacity to reach, stoop, kneel, and bend as necessary. Regular communication via telephone and email is essential. Specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
