Position Overview: Communications & Events Specialist

Role Summary:

The Communications team at CMA CGM North America is seeking a skilled and imaginative communications and events professional to enhance our internal and external communications initiatives. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Special Events, the successful candidate will collaborate with a dedicated team to manage a diverse range of multimedia projects, including videography, photography, video production, asset management, virtual meeting coordination, graphic design, and local agency event programming throughout North America. Strong project management skills and a proven track record in event coordination are essential.

This role requires a collaborative team player who can effectively prioritize tasks and adapt to meet departmental objectives. The ideal candidate will possess an event/hospitality mindset, striving to exceed stakeholder expectations. A proactive problem solver eager to embrace new challenges and learn new skills is essential. A passion for photography, experience with large media files, and familiarity with the latest asset storage technologies are also important.

The communications team collaborates closely with CMA CGM's headquarters in Marseille, France, and various departments within the North American network. A history of teamwork in communication projects and a collaborative working style are critical for success in this position. Willingness to travel and work outside standard hours is required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create engaging, original, high-quality content paired with compelling visuals.
  • Manage assets, including researching photography archives and coordinating imagery requests.
  • Oversee video and photography capture as needed.
  • Coordinate, produce, and edit virtual events and webinars.
  • Execute general graphic design projects as required.
  • Analyze the performance of posted content using key metrics and recommend optimization strategies. Prepare reports for management.
  • Collaborate with the communications team and support various stakeholders on internal and external projects.
  • Facilitate photography and videography for corporate events across the United States and Canada.
  • Assist senior team members with additional communication initiatives as assigned.
  • Perform miscellaneous related duties or projects as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proven ability to write and edit content independently; knowledge of SEO is advantageous.
  • Extensive knowledge of social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Instagram.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Familiarity with new media resources and technologies.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in InDesign and Adobe Illustrator.
  • Competence in MS Office with a working knowledge of PC platforms.
  • High levels of self-motivation and assertiveness.
  • Ability to work collaboratively, share ideas, and welcome constructive feedback.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to develop targeted content.
  • Capability to maintain focus on both the big picture and specific details to ensure project success.
  • Adherence to company policies and procedures.
  • Ability to interact positively with others and work independently or as part of a team.
  • Capacity to manage time effectively in a high-volume environment.
  • Physical ability to lift 20-30 pounds or more as required.
  • Strong comprehension skills to interpret and comply with written documents and safety protocols.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, journalism, communications, or a related field, along with three years of experience in social media content curation, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of three years of general experience is required.
