Key Responsibilities

Position Overview:

As an Expert Systems Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in guiding engineering teams through a comprehensive, multi-disciplinary approach to systems requirements, solutions development, scheduling, and reliability within the National System of Geospatial-intelligence (NSG) and associated federal entities. Your expertise will ensure the delivery of precise and timely GEOINT solutions.

Core Duties:
  • Support the Government in directing the engineering processes, including requirements gathering, solutions development, and system integration across NSG and related federal agencies.
  • Engage in the planning and analysis of user requirements, ensuring effective traceability of architectures and procedures to enhance existing systems.
  • Provide strategic advice on proposed modifications to solution designs, leveraging insights from requirements analysis and emerging technologies.
  • Assist in translating mission objectives and customer needs into actionable systems and capability requirements.
  • Facilitate the analysis and allocation of requirements to various systems architecture components.
  • Contribute to systems integration activities, ensuring seamless operation across platforms.
  • Conduct Analysis of Alternatives (AoAs), Course of Actions (CoAs), and Engineering Assessments to inform decision-making.
  • Support strategic technical planning, project management, and risk management initiatives.
Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience:

  • A Bachelor's degree or higher in Systems Engineering or a related technical field, or 18 years of relevant work experience in lieu of a degree.
  • A minimum of 18 years of experience in government or industry, particularly in areas such as DoD/IC Acquisition, Requirements Process, or systems engineering of complex systems.
  • Extensive experience in systems engineering roles within government or industry settings.
  • Possession of a TS/SCI clearance or the ability to obtain one and successfully pass a polygraph examination.
Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with Model Based Systems Engineering methodologies and tools.
  • Knowledge of Software Development Frameworks.
  • INCOSE Associate System Engineering Professional (ASEP) certification.
  • Experience in geospatial intelligence.
  • Active participation in professional organizations such as ACSM, ASCE, ASPRS, OGC, SAREM, or USGIF.
  • Understanding of photogrammetry, remote sensing, and geographic information systems.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the NSG/ASG and NRO enterprises.

Salary Range

The typical salary range for this position is $146,000 - $234,000, reflecting the experience and qualifications of the candidate.
