Manufacturing Plant Engineering Manager

Key Responsibilities:
Oversee, organize, and lead all engineering, project management, and maintenance operations within the manufacturing facility. Responsible for managing a team of supervisors and managers who direct plant maintenance and engineering tasks.
Coordinate and supervise the design, layout, installation, and upkeep of the facility, its support systems, and production machinery in a cost-effective manner, adhering to corporate, production, and regulatory standards.
Develop comprehensive project and maintenance timelines, ensuring supervisors and managers are equipped to maintain efficient plant operations and provide continuous maintenance support.
Set and communicate performance metrics for assessing departmental efficiency, such as downtime, repair expenses, inventory levels, and labor hours. Track progress and offer guidance to supervisors and managers to meet these objectives.Identify and evaluate vendors for construction projects, maintenance supplies, and external services. Negotiate pricing and seek final approval from the Plant Manager.
Investigate, propose, and implement improvements to facilities, utilities, processes, and equipment to reduce costs, enhance product quality, and boost operational efficiency in alignment with facility goals.
Provide technical support to production teams; troubleshoot and recommend solutions to production challenges, enhancing operational effectiveness through better equipment management.
Ensure meticulous and compliant documentation related to maintenance activities, equipment, engineering, procurement, and regulatory interactions is maintained.
Monitor utility consumption; identify excessive usage and implement strategies to reduce costs.Collaborate closely with the Plant Manager to formulate the capital expenditure budget and provide insights on engineering, procurement, and installation needs for capital initiatives.
Engage in various cross-functional teams aimed at process improvement within the organization and assist other company facilities as necessary.
Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory, governmental, safety, and environmental standards.Prepare regular and ad hoc reports on project progress, costs, downtime, maintenance activities, and other pertinent information.
Guide, motivate, discipline, train, and effectively manage the performance of both hourly and salaried staff.
Perform additional duties as required.
Essential Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering is preferred, or equivalent knowledge and skills acquired through relevant work experience.
Minimum of seven years of experience in managing maintenance or engineering teams, preferably within the food production sector.
Possess in-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations pertaining to the construction, maintenance, and operation of manufacturing facilities and their equipment.
Ability to interpret and analyze various blueprints, schematics, and related documentation.Familiarity with safety and environmental regulations at federal, state, and local levels, along with best operational practices.
Capability to manage complex installation and modification projects involving significant capital investments within the area of responsibility.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with peers, management, and external stakeholders.
Proven ability to supervise and manage teams to achieve set goals and objectives.
Work is typically conducted in a manufacturing environment, which may involve exposure to varying temperatures and requires the use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), with standard office equipment available alongside manufacturing tools.
While performing the duties of this role, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, bend, walk, use hands or fingers, talk, hear, and handle objects or controls; may need to lift up to 50 pounds. Vision abilities include close vision for computer screen work.
