Role Objective:
Manage and supervise all functions associated with the integrated management system (IMS) at the manufacturing site, ensuring that products comply with both internal and external quality and regulatory benchmarks. Work closely with the Plant Manager to facilitate quality communications with clients, while promoting a culture of quality and ongoing enhancement throughout the facility.
Primary Responsibilities:
Quality Management System
- Guarantee adherence to applicable quality management standards (e.g., ISO 9001, FSSC).
- Serve as the lead for the HACCP program (if relevant) and assist with other risk assessments, including change management.
- Direct preparations for and ensure successful completion of both internal and external audits concerning quality and/or food safety.
- Provide regular updates on quality and food safety metrics in line with corporate protocols at both local and regional levels.
Quality Control
- Ensure all products and packaging comply with regulatory, internal, and customer specifications, maintaining current access to customer requirements.
- Manage the distribution of necessary customer compliance documentation, such as Certificates of Analysis (COAs) and regulatory statements.
- Oversee the quality control program at the facility, including product testing, data integrity, and rework processes.
- Ensure the proper functioning and calibration of quality testing equipment, both internally and externally.
- Assist with the qualification and verification processes for new products and machinery.
- Standardize and enhance quality documentation, ensuring alignment with established document control practices.
- Address supplier quality concerns according to established protocols, aiding the logistics team in resolving issues.
Customer Relations
- Act as the primary contact for quality and regulatory issues with clients, hosting periodic visits and managing customer feedback.
- Oversee the root cause analysis (RCA) process, ensuring proper documentation in global/regional/local systems and supporting RCA training for other departments.
Laboratory Management
- Ensure that all personnel involved in quality testing, whether in the laboratory or on the production floor, are fully trained and qualified.
- Lead the quality team through regular meetings, recruitment, disciplinary actions, performance evaluations, and ongoing training.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in a STEM or technical discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
- Familiarity with physical laboratory testing equipment (e.g., calipers, scales, digital height gauges) and preferably with Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs).
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in Quality Assurance, with a proven track record as a QA Manager in a manufacturing setting.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Proficiency in Excel, SPC software, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong understanding of statistical methods.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across various departments.
- Excellent customer relationship management skills.
- Outstanding organizational abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple tasks concurrently.
