Overview:
Gilder Search Group is seeking a talented Controls Field Service Engineer to join our team. This role focuses on critical facilities and offers an opportunity to work with advanced technologies in the data center sector.

About the Role:
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in the design, construction, integration, and commissioning of control and building automation systems specifically tailored for data center environments. Responsibilities include:
  • Troubleshooting, installing, and upgrading existing automation systems for power and cooling in live, mission-critical settings.
  • Assisting in the complete startup, commissioning, and validation of these systems.
  • Collaborating with Electrical and Mechanical Engineering teams, Software Development teams, and Site Operations teams to ensure the reliability of new and modified installations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and deploy updated versions of PLC applications for existing control systems with minimal supervision.
  • Execute PLC software application modifications in a critical environment.
  • Work with leading-edge automation systems from major industrial controls vendors.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve PLC, network, and other critical control system issues during incidents.
  • Manage vendor compliance with company guidelines and policies.
  • Oversee change management and control system upgrades while ensuring 100% uptime on existing equipment.
  • Coordinate with Design and Construction Teams.
  • Conduct commissioning-focused design reviews and prepare testing procedures and reports.
  • Participate in equipment start-up and field modifications.
  • Implement industry best practices into new and existing Critical Environment Programs.
  • Take ownership of quality control for hardware installations.
  • Provide feedback for continuous improvement of the Critical Environments program.
  • Repair and troubleshoot control systems and hardware.
  • Develop process documentation and training materials.
  • Contribute to the development of Methods of Procedures (MOPs).

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a relevant field is highly preferred.
  • Experience in Data Center Commissioning with Automation and Controls is a plus.
  • 3-5+ years of experience with Building Management Systems (BMS), Building Control Systems (BCM), or Building Automation Systems (BAS).
  • Familiarity with controls products from companies such as Johnson Controls, Siemens, Honeywell, and Schneider Electric.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, CAD drawings, and control diagrams.
  • Experience with PLC programming and critical HVAC equipment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to travel and work flexible hours as needed.
  • Military experience in Electrical or Mechanical fields is a significant advantage.
