Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to fill the role of Regional Director of District Supports at the State of Colorado. As a member of our team, you will play a critical role in building strong partnerships with school districts and BOCES across the state.

About the Role
  • Directs and drives the progress and implementation of Field Service's team priorities, ensuring alignment with the state's education goals.
  • Leads as a service agent and liaison between the Department and the districts/BOCES, fostering effective communication and collaboration.
  • Leads critical information sessions and supports compliance of statutory deadlines, ensuring timely and accurate implementation.
  • Leads discussions and presents department initiatives to district and BOCES leaders, promoting a shared understanding of state priorities.
  • Collaborates deeply with and facilitates effective communication between the field and the Department, ensuring seamless coordination.
  • Leads and guides direct support to district leadership and BOCES executive directors, providing expert guidance and resources.
  • Facilitates connections between rural districts/BOCES and CDE's Office of Special Education, promoting equity and access.
  • Builds trusting relationships with diverse stakeholders, including district administrators, teachers, and community members.
  • Collaborates with the Director of Rural Services, ensuring a coordinated approach to supporting rural districts.
  • Collaborates across the Division to implement the Statewide System of Support, driving continuous improvement and student success.
  • Leads the field services team to identify and create new opportunities for districts, promoting innovation and excellence.
  • Facilitates the use of state assessment and accountability data, ensuring informed decision-making and data-driven instruction.
  • Responds to ongoing taxpayer questions and provides support, promoting transparency and accountability.
  • Maintains a collaborative relationship with all CDE units, ensuring a cohesive and effective state education system.
  • Supports CDE leadership in creating resources for struggling districts, driving student success and achievement.
  • Special Projects as needed, requiring adaptability and a solutions-focused approach.
  • Other duties as assigned, requiring a flexible and responsive mindset.
Requirements
  • Master's Degree or equivalent experience, demonstrating expertise in education leadership and administration.
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in public schools, with a proven track record of success in district leadership and administration.
  • Experience with state accreditation requirements and state assessments, ensuring a deep understanding of state education policies and procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Minimum 3 years experience as a district administrator in a rural setting, with a strong understanding of rural education challenges and opportunities.

  • Political savvy and extensive interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration and communication with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to relate to different audiences and deliver messaging, promoting a shared understanding of state priorities and initiatives.
  • Freedom to work extended periods in school districts, requiring flexibility and adaptability.
  • Ability to collaborate in challenging contexts, driving continuous improvement and student success.
  • Knowledge in district operations and leadership development, ensuring a deep understanding of state education policies and procedures.
  • Strong networking abilities and professionalism, promoting a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Knowledge of Colorado's accreditation system, ensuring a deep understanding of state education policies and procedures.
  • Commitment to supporting CDE's mission, driving student success and achievement.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills, enabling effective collaboration and communication with diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience with project management, requiring a solutions-focused and adaptable approach.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds, ensuring physical ability to perform job duties.
