Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Precision Machinist Specialist to join our team at Kaman Aerospace Group. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for performing diversified and specialized machining operations, specifying exacting tolerances and finish specifications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Machining Operations: Set up machining sequences, operate, edit, and adjust a variety of machine tools and operations, perform machining operations on CNC and manual machines, edit and check programming of machines, determine operational or tooling sequence, select feeds, speeds, and tooling, and hold close and exacting tolerances.
  • General Shop Work: Perform general shop work such as deburring, machine repair, and maintenance duties, including model making, hobbing, and burnish set ups, set up and run tool cutter grinding, and produce models to engineering specification.
  • Quality Control: Use blueprints, schematics, written and verbal directions, shop policies, and quality standards to obtain required contours, dimensions, and finish specifications, calibrate and modify operational sequences to adjust speed of machining and frequency of cuts, and inspect own work using functional gages and inspection equipment to maintain maximum quality.
  • Safety and Maintenance: Use safety standards as a guideline to perform machine maintenance, maintain a clean and orderly work area, and report defective material and other unusual conditions or circumstances to supervisor.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent, 5+ years of experience in areas of specialized machining, use of elementary geometry, algebra, and trigonometric principles, and familiarity with shop practices, inspection, and safety.
  • Qualifications: Ability to use various types of precision measuring tools and instruments, OAP certification, and ability to assist in training new employees.
