The Specialized Machinist will work under the Team Leader, with limited supervision, to perform diversified and specialized machining operations specifying exacting tolerances and finish specifications. This role requires the ability to employ 5S and Lean Manufacturing skills in everyday work practices.
Key Responsibilities- Set up machining sequences and operate a variety of machine tools and operations.
- Perform machining operations on computer numerical control (CNC) and manual machines, including editing and adjusting programming.
- Determine operational or tooling sequence, select feeds, speeds, and tooling, and hold close and exacting tolerances.
- Perform general shop work, such as deburring, machine repair, and maintenance duties.
- Specialize in areas such as model making, hobbing, and burnish set ups, and set up and run tool cutter grinding.
- Produce models to engineering specification and calibrate and modify operational sequences to adjust speed of machining and frequency of cuts.
- Use safety standards as a guideline to perform machine maintenance and maintain a clean and orderly work area.
- Inspect own work using functional gages and inspection equipment to maintain maximum quality.
- Inspect production work as often as necessary to maintain maximum quality standards and prevent scrap or minimal rework.
- Assist in training new employees and report defective material and other unusual conditions or circumstances to the supervisor.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to use elementary geometry, algebra, and trigonometric principles, as well as drawings, specifications, charts, and tables.
- Familiarity with shop practices, inspection, and safety.
- 5+ years of experience in areas of specialized machining.
- US Citizenship or US Permanent Residency (green card holder) required due to ITAR and other US government security regulations.
