Position Overview: Birthday Event Supervisor

Department: Participant Development

Reports to: Participant Development Manager

Primary Job Location: Sharks Ice San Jose

FLSA and FTE Status: Non-exempt and part-time

Compensation: $17.55/hour

Role Summary:

The Birthday Event Supervisor, under the guidance of the Party Coordinator and in collaboration with department Managers, leads individual birthday celebrations. This role is essential in creating a joyful and memorable atmosphere for attendees by organizing the event, welcoming guests, facilitating games, serving refreshments, providing skating instruction, and managing the event's conclusion. The Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that each birthday child, their family, and all participants enjoy a distinctive and unforgettable experience at Sharks Ice.


Shift Details:

  • Shifts primarily occur on weekends.

Key Responsibilities:

Event Preparation:

  • Adheres to the detailed agenda provided by the Party Coordinator during the pre-event briefing.
  • Confirms food orders, event scheduling, and public session programming with the Party Coordinator.
  • Arranges table decorations and party favors.
  • Assists in any preparation tasks as needed.

Event Execution:

  • Ensures that event areas are clean and ready in a timely manner before, during, and after the celebration.
  • Welcomes parents, the birthday individual, and children upon arrival, guiding them to their designated area and explaining the timeline.
  • Assists participants with fitting and tying skates.
  • Provides verbal instructions on and off the ice according to the event agenda.
  • Plans and facilitates various birthday games both on and off the ice, as well as in the party area, following the event agenda.
  • Coordinates the birthday group to ensure all participants engage in scheduled activities, with special attention to the birthday child.
  • Ensures the party contact settles any outstanding payments.
  • Maintains cleanliness of party rooms and ensures all tables and chairs are returned to their original state, including continuous clearing of plates, cups, and waste during the event.
  • Conducts post-event cleanup.
  • Delivers exceptional customer service (e.g., recording gift lists, offering to take photos, etc.).
  • Collaborates effectively with fellow Party Supervisors under the direction of the Party Coordinator to ensure a cohesive and enjoyable event experience.
  • Completes additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Proficient ice skating skills are required.
  • Team-oriented mindset.
  • Previous experience in an ice rink setting is preferred.
  • Experience in recreation, childcare, or education is advantageous.
  • Must be capable of performing physically demanding tasks essential to this role.
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is necessary.
  • Reliable transportation is required.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods is essential.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Comfortable working in a cold environment.
