Job Overview
As a key player in our engineering team, the Packaging Systems Engineer will collaborate with process, controls, and facility engineers to design, implement, and oversee packaging machinery lines tailored for clients in the food and beverage sector.

Role Responsibilities
Your role will encompass a variety of critical tasks, including:

  • Design:
    Formulate design foundations and project scopes
    Innovate design concepts
    Draft functional specifications for packaging systems
    Employ sanitary design principles for diverse product types
    Generate AutoCAD layouts for equipment
    Analyze mechanical design needs and client specifications
    Evaluate and endorse vendor drawings and coordination plans
  • Engineering:
    Serve as a subject matter expert in specific packaging domains
    Oversee multiple concurrent projects
    Create comprehensive packaging flow diagrams, material balances, and equipment specifications
    Develop project financial plans
    Manage equipment bidding processes
    Establish and monitor delivery and installation timelines
    Ensure optimal placement of support equipment
    Provide insights into manufacturing and packaging design standards
    Design systems for conveyance, wrapping, bagging, cartoning, filling, bottling, case packing, and palletizing
    Assist in process simulations
    Generate procurement documentation for packaging machinery
    Aid in machine and process design
    Prepare testing protocols for machinery
  • Site Management:
    Assess existing site conditions
    Coordinate on-site construction activities
    Supervise the installation and commissioning of packaging systems
    Manage vendor relationships and installation teams
    Lead presentations during client engagements
    Facilitate factory acceptance testing at vendor locations
    Guide and mentor project teams
    Act as the primary client liaison and lead engineer for various projects

Qualifications
Applicants should possess:

  • A Bachelor's degree in mechanical, packaging, industrial, or manufacturing engineering
  • 8-11 years of relevant industry experience
  • Proven experience in large-scale project management, equipment design, process design, and machinery testing
  • Background in food and beverage manufacturing or design firms
  • Proficiency in MS Office, MS Project, and AutoCAD
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • A proactive, team-oriented mindset with strong problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to travel 30-50% of the time for project oversight

Physical Requirements
Ability to work at a desk for extended periods and lift up to 15 pounds as needed.

Travel Requirements
Expectations for travel up to 50% for project site visits and collaboration with other offices.
