Dennis Group is seeking experienced Mechanical Engineers to design and implement mechanical systems within a dynamic engineering and architectural team focused on food and beverage production facilities.
Key Responsibilities- Independently manage multiple projects
- Conduct comprehensive engineering tasks from initial design to execution
- Perform heating and cooling load calculations
- Review codes for HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection designs
- Execute mass energy balance and drainage calculations
- Analyze flow tests and sanitary design considerations
- Create PID drafts and designs
- Develop bid packages including equipment and subcontractor lists, scopes of work, and milestone schedules
- Provide cost estimations and project scheduling
- Conduct peer design reviews and oversee commissioning activities
- Select appropriate equipment and vendors
- Ensure compliance with building codes and insurance requirements
- Conduct vendor shop inspections and FATs
Work closely with internal and external team members to develop mechanical systems, including HVAC, utility, plumbing, and fire suppression systems. Assist in creating specifications and layouts for mechanical and utility equipment.
Documentation and Compliance- Generate project documents such as calculations, reports, and construction drawings
- Oversee construction administration tasks including submittal reviews and field visits
- Research and implement best practices for mechanical and utility materials
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
- 8-11 years of experience in HVAC and utilities design, preferably in food and beverage or sanitary environments
- Proficiency in engineering design software and computer-aided drafting (AutoCAD, Revit, etc.)
- Registered Professional Engineer (PE) certification is a plus
- Willingness to travel for project site reviews and meetings (10-25%)
Ability to sit for extended periods and lift up to 15 pounds as needed.
