Our packaging engineers play a crucial role in establishing project requirements, estimating costs, creating flow diagrams, and providing essential support during construction and commissioning phases.
Key Responsibilities
Design Responsibilities:
- Develop comprehensive design and scope of work documentation.
- Create innovative design concepts tailored to client needs.
- Formulate functional specifications for packaging lines.
- Implement sanitary design principles for various product types including liquids, powders, and solids.
- Generate AutoCAD layouts for equipment.
- Analyze mechanical design requirements and customer specifications.
- Review and validate vendor shop drawings and coordination documents.
Engineering Duties:
- Serve as a subject matter expert in specific packaging domains.
- Oversee multiple projects simultaneously.
- Create essential documentation such as packaging flow diagrams, material balances, and equipment specifications.
- Develop and manage project budgets and timelines.
- Prepare and distribute equipment bid packages.
- Ensure the timely delivery and installation of equipment.
- Provide insights into manufacturing and packaging design principles.
- Design systems for various packaging processes including conveyance, wrapping, and palletizing.
- Assist in process simulations and machine testing preparations.
Site Coordination:
- Conduct surveys of existing conditions.
- Coordinate on-site construction activities.
- Manage the installation and commissioning of packaging systems.
- Supervise equipment vendors and installation teams.
- Lead client presentations and factory acceptance testing.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, packaging, industrial, or manufacturing engineering.
- 8-11 years of relevant experience in the field.
- Proven experience with large-scale projects involving equipment design, installation, and commissioning.
- Familiarity with food and beverage manufacturing or design firms is essential.
- Proficient in MS Office, MS Project, and AutoCAD.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
- Excellent problem-solving and organizational abilities.
- Willingness to travel up to 50% for project coordination.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit for extended periods and work on a computer.
- Capability to lift up to 15 pounds as needed.
