General Summary

The Healthcare Compliance Manager is responsible for ensuring adherence to the latest standards set forth by relevant accrediting bodies, including but not limited to the Joint Commission (TJC), The Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care (AAALAC), and The College of American Pathologists (CAP). This role involves a comprehensive understanding of medical codes and standards essential for the effective operation of healthcare facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Document and maintain records to demonstrate compliance with established codes and standards.
  • Stay informed about regulatory changes affecting healthcare facilities and ensure that all operations align with these updates.
  • Develop and submit an Accreditation Compliance and Documentation Plan for review and approval by relevant authorities.
  • Create and maintain an Environment of Care (EC) Policy and Procedures Manual, detailing training and documentation for employee competency.
  • Ensure compliance with EC Standards related to utility systems and other critical building systems, including fire safety, emergency power, medical gas, and HVAC systems.
  • Implement a management program to identify and document utility issues that may compromise patient care.
  • Engage in initiatives within the medical treatment facility (MTF) aimed at fulfilling TJC requirements related to Process Improvement (PI) programs, including data collection and report preparation.
  • Conduct quarterly reviews of compliance programs.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Certification as a Certified Healthcare Facility Manager (CHFM) is required.
  • A minimum of two years of experience with Joint Commission compliance, including documentation and related work requests.
  • Familiarity with applicable codes and standards such as NFPA, ADA, and ASHRAE.
  • Experience with The Joint Commission Life Safety and Environment of Care standards, including report management.

Work Environment

  • The role involves working in both office settings and various facility locations.
  • Physical demands include sitting, standing, walking, and occasional lifting.
  • Exposure to environmental elements is limited and generally manageable.
