Position Summary

The Health and Safety Manager is responsible for ensuring compliance with safety regulations and promoting a culture of safety within the organization. The following are key responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement site-specific safety programs.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and analyze results through statistical methods.
  • Collaborate with subcontractors and suppliers on safety practices.
  • Build relationships with clients' safety personnel.
  • Facilitate site safety orientations for new employees.
  • Oversee substance abuse testing protocols as needed.
  • Perform routine audits to ensure on-site safety compliance.
  • Maintain efficient operations within the department.
  • Commit to continuous improvement processes.
  • Model safety as a top organizational priority by adhering to personal protective equipment standards.
  • Ensure timely completion of tasks while following policies and maintaining excellent attendance.
  • Address client concerns effectively to ensure satisfaction.
  • Assist colleagues in achieving organizational goals beyond assigned duties.
  • Perform additional tasks as directed by management.

Qualifications

To excel in this role, candidates should possess:

  • A Bachelor's or Associate's Degree in Health & Safety, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in Health and Safety within the construction sector, or 10 to 15 years of overall construction experience. High-rise project experience is advantageous.
  • Required certifications include CHST, ASP, or CHSO, along with First Aid/CPR/AED certifications and a 30-hour OSHA training.

Physical Requirements

The role requires physical capabilities including standing, walking, climbing, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Employees must be able to navigate various environments, including construction sites, which may involve exposure to noise, mechanical parts, and weather conditions.
