Job Overview

Position Title: Head of Compliance

Role Summary: The Head of Compliance plays a pivotal role in steering the organization's compliance initiatives. This position is tasked with ensuring that all operations align with regulatory mandates, internal guidelines, and sector standards, thereby safeguarding the organization's reputation and mitigating legal and regulatory exposures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Formulate and execute a robust compliance strategy and framework to guarantee adherence to applicable laws, regulations, and internal standards.
  • Supervise the creation and implementation of compliance initiatives, including risk evaluations, audits, and oversight activities.
  • Ensure that compliance protocols and procedures are current and in line with evolving regulations and industry best practices.
  • Offer guidance and assistance to various departments on compliance matters, ensuring effective execution and adherence to compliance obligations.
  • Track regulatory developments and evaluate their implications for the organization, revising policies and procedures as required.
  • Facilitate training and awareness sessions to inform employees about compliance obligations and foster a culture of integrity and accountability.
  • Lead inquiries into compliance violations, manage corrective measures, and liaise with regulatory bodies as necessary.
  • Compile and present compliance reports and updates to executive management and the board.
  • Collaborate with legal, risk management, and other departments to tackle compliance challenges and bolster overall risk management strategies.
  • Oversee and mentor the compliance team, providing leadership and support for their professional growth.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Law, Business Administration, or a related discipline; advanced degrees or Juris Doctor (JD) preferred.
  • Significant experience in compliance oversight, including leadership positions and the development of compliance frameworks.
  • Thorough understanding of regulatory frameworks, compliance standards, and industry practices.
  • Demonstrated capability to craft and implement effective compliance policies and procedures.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills for engaging with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficient leadership and team management skills.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional, Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager) are advantageous.
