About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Mental Health Specialist II to join our team at Taunton State Hospital. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care and support to individuals with major mental illnesses.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct Care Services: Provide direct care and support to patients, including assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) and rehabilitative aspects of care.
  • Therapeutic Interventions: Work with patients on an individual or small group basis to provide therapeutic interventions and promote optimal stabilization and rehabilitation.
  • Communication and Documentation: Communicate patients' progress or regress to supervisors and participate in treatment plan and nursing care plan meetings to ensure continuity of patient care.
  • Supervision and Guidance: Supervise and/or assist patients in their performance of general housekeeping duties in assigned areas to ensure a clean, safe, and therapeutic environment.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have at least one year of full-time or equivalent part-time experience in providing direct care services to the mentally ill, emotionally or physically handicapped. An Associate's degree or higher with a major in psychology, human services, mental health, or retardation may be substituted for the required experience.
