We are seeking an experienced Mental Health Specialist II to join our team at Taunton State Hospital. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care and support to individuals with major mental illnesses.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct Care Services: Assist professional staff in providing direct care and treatment to patients, including instruction and supervision on skills development and daily living activities.
  • Patient Advocacy: Treat patients with dignity and respect, advocating for their needs and preferences, and facilitating timely resolution of patient concerns.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with colleagues to ensure a safe and therapeutic environment, promoting optimal stabilization and rehabilitation for patients.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Accurately document patient progress and observations, providing written follow-through of verbal reports to ensure continuity of care.
  • Housekeeping and Maintenance: Supervise and assist patients in maintaining a clean and safe environment, adhering to hospital standards and regulations.

Taunton State Hospital is a 62-bed inpatient facility operated by the Department of Mental Health, providing continuing care services to adults with major mental illnesses. Our hospital is committed to integrating the Principles of Recovery and a rehabilitation philosophy into our treatment model, ensuring a supportive and empowering environment for our patients.

Requirements
  • Experience: At least one year of full-time or equivalent part-time experience in providing direct care services to individuals with mental health needs.
  • Education: An Associate's degree or higher in a relevant field, such as psychology, human services, or mental health, may be substituted for the required experience.
