Job Overview

The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Coordinator is a pivotal role dedicated to fostering a safety-oriented culture within the organization. This individual will mentor, guide, and educate employees, ensuring adherence to exceptional environmental, health, and safety standards. Utilizing analytical expertise, they will implement prevention strategies and risk mitigation techniques to minimize hazards in the workplace.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive the integration of sustainable EHS management systems across the organization.
  • Advise leadership on strategic safety goals and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Develop and oversee health and safety enhancement initiatives while managing daily operations.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and internal management systems.
  • Conduct training and education on safety risk management, DOT regulations, and environmental protection standards.
  • Lead investigations into safety incidents, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
  • Assess all auto accidents and liability claims against the organization.
  • Manage worker's compensation and general liability risk exposure according to established guidelines.
  • Participate in hearings and legal proceedings related to worker's compensation and claims.
  • Perform audits and inspections to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations.
  • Compile and report safety statistics as required by local, state, and federal agencies.
  • Monitor and deliver training programs, including behavioral leadership training.
  • Ensure adherence to DOT regulations.
  • Obtain necessary certificates of insurance.
Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of occupational safety standards and transportation regulations.
  • Familiarity with insurance practices related to property, workers' compensation, and liability.
  • Understanding of government regulations, including OSHA and EPA standards.
  • Experience with DPO/VPO/LCP regulations.
  • Adaptability to change and capability to lead change management initiatives.
  • Availability to work various shifts and provide on-call support as needed.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in a safety-related discipline.
  • A minimum of 5 years in risk management, environmental affairs, or supervisory roles.
  • Experience in compliance and safety management.
  • Background in managing workers' compensation claims.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
  • Ability to lift objects up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 40 pounds occasionally.
  • Expect to be active throughout the day, with significant standing or walking.
  • Requires focus and attention to detail for complex tasks.
