Description Summary

General Overview
The Deputy City Administrator supports the City Administrator in the effective management of all municipal departments as outlined by state statutes and local ordinances. This role may involve overseeing community and economic development initiatives, along with the creation, maintenance, and execution of policies and programs. The Deputy City Administrator collaborates with the management team to ensure high-quality services are delivered to the residents of Osage Beach.

Supervision Structure
The Deputy City Administrator reports directly to the City Administrator.

Supervisory Responsibilities
This position includes direct oversight of designated departments as assigned by the City Administrator. The Deputy City Administrator may also guide and supervise department heads and staff across the city organization, including community and economic development functions.

Key Responsibilities
The following tasks are illustrative and not exhaustive:
  • Acts as the City Administrator in their absence.
  • Assists in daily operations, policy formulation, and administration.
  • Ensures compliance with city codes, policies, contracts, and franchises.
  • Represents the city at various meetings and community events, addressing citizen inquiries as necessary.
  • Conducts a range of administrative and analytical tasks to support the City Administrator, including complex research and analysis of city-wide issues.
  • Contributes to the development and management of the city budget, monitoring financial activities.
  • Participates in meetings with boards and committees, providing presentations as needed.
  • Coordinates grant-related activities, including research, writing, and administration.
  • Plans and executes special programs and events for the city.
  • Serves as the purchasing agent for the city, overseeing purchases and managing bid processes.
  • Supports the Human Resources Generalist in various capacities.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of Human Resources policies.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned by the City Administrator.
Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in a relevant field with 3 years of progressive experience in municipal government, particularly in Business Administration, Public Policy, or Community and Economic Development.

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field with 5 years of progressive experience in municipal government preferred.
or
  • A combination of education, training, and experience that qualifies for the position.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Comprehensive understanding of municipal operations and procedures.
  • Experience in grant research, writing, and execution.
  • Familiarity with budgeting, accounting practices, and community development.
  • Thorough knowledge of management and supervisory techniques.
  • Ability to train staff on various topics.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with various stakeholders.
  • Capacity to work collaboratively with city leaders and department heads to address issues and prioritize tasks.
