This position requires attendance at evening Planning Commission meetings on Wednesdays twice a month and is provided an additional 5% assignment pay as compensation for this requirement. Effective communication and customer service skills. Pivoting seamlessly between tasks and navigating interruptions. Executing daily tasks with tact and confidentiality. Intaking high volume customer inquiries and routing and de-escalating concerns. The normal duties for this position can be found in the job description for Administrative Assistant . They are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned. Minimum Qualifications: Education: Graduation from high school or equivalent is required, preferably supplemented by courses or training in areas of specialization. Experience: At least 5 full-time years of increasingly responsible administrative or secretarial support experience. Previous public sector experience is highly desirable. License/Certificate Requirements: Due to the performance of some field duties, which may require the operation of a personal or City vehicle, a valid California Driver’s license and an acceptable driving record are required. This recruitment may be used to fill other vacancies for Administrative Assistant positions. There is currently a vacancy in the Community Development Department. Application/Selection Process: This recruitment will be used to establish an Eligibility List and may be used to fill vacancies within departments across the City. All interested applicants must submit a completed online city application. Applications will be accepted on a continuous basis with a first review on August 22, 2024 . Candidates will be notified via email of next steps with advanced notice. Applications will be screened carefully, and selected applicants will be invited to undergo a Structured Panel Interview to evaluate their knowledge, skills, and abilities. The appointing hiring authority will further review the job-related qualifications of applicants deemed eligible before making selection decisions. The selection process may be modified based on the needs of the City. Pre-employment Process: Selected candidates must successfully pass a fingerprint check with the State Department of Justice. Education and employment verification and reference check(s) will also be conducted.
