Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Benefits and Authorization Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring seamless authorization and benefits processes for our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Authorization and Benefits Coordination: Utilize the Managed Care Work list to track receipt, delays, and completion of requests, prioritizing requests and obtaining authorizations at minimum one week prior to scheduled dates of service.
  • Eligibility and Authorization Reports: Work Eligibility and Authorization reports for the Diagnostic Center, tracking activity to identify carrier trends and making recommendations to the department director.
  • Denial Reports and Patient Accounts: Review and work Denial Reports for the Diagnostic Center, updating patient accounts with correct insurance information.
  • Carrier Trend Analysis: Independently assess carrier trends, communicating information to appropriate personnel and making recommendations for process improvements.
  • Communication and Customer Service: Respond to patient inquiries in a courteous and professional manner, maintaining a positive and cooperative working relationship with internal and external customers.
  • Reporting and Project Management: Complete assigned reports and projects within deadlines, staying informed of current insurance carrier requirements regarding pre-authorization of service.
Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma or GED.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years experience in healthcare insurance area.
  • Skills: Display customer service skills, strong interpersonal skills, close attention to detail, and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Software Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office and EMR software.
  • Language: Proficient in English language, both written and verbal.
  • Confidentiality: Committed to the protection of confidential information, records, and reports.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to work in various positions (standing, sitting, bending, and walking) for extended periods of time.
