About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Test Engineer to join our team at HII's Newport News Shipbuilding division. As a key member of our Test Engineering team, you will be responsible for synthesizing customer contractual needs and requirements into system test solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and direct preparation and execution of comprehensive test plans, procedures, and schedules for completing systems.
  • Coordinate integrated testing activities and review and evaluate test requirements to ensure completeness of the test program.
  • Perform technical analysis of complete systems and prepare comprehensive system-level evaluations.
  • Lead and manage complex tactical warfare systems testing, including coordination with government agencies and other stakeholders.
Requirements
  • Must have Lead Test Engineer (LTE) or Ship Safety Officer (SSO) or Watch Supervisor or Watch Officer Certification or Trade REC Coordinator (TRC) and Trade REC Oversight Agent (TROA) Certification.
  • 6 years of relevant professional/exempt experience.
  • Prior experience with Electronics Test CVN 78 Class or CVN 68 Class Lead Test Engineer (LTE) Qualification or the ability to attain LTE Qualification within 6 months.
Preferred Qualifications
  • CVN78 Class qualification preferred.
  • Ability to direct, manage, and satisfactorily conduct, complete, and certify all required complex tactical warfare/combat pier side and at-sea industrial testing.
  • Experience with US NAVAL Surface tactical Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Collaboration, and Intelligence systems.
  • Ability to develop flight profiles from test requirements using system and ship operational knowledge.
