Position Overview
This role is tailored for individuals pursuing a career within the CVN Deck Machinery Group. The selected candidate will be tasked with the development and execution of testing protocols for mechanical and electrical systems on nuclear-powered aircraft carriers.

Key Responsibilities
The engineer will leverage their technical expertise to gather and assess shipboard test data, ensuring that system performance aligns with all technical and contractual specifications. This position requires collaboration with various internal and external stakeholders to implement a cohesive testing strategy that prioritizes safety and quality while considering timelines and budget constraints.

Technical Leadership
Applicants should be prepared to assume a technical leadership role for one or more of the following systems:
  • AFFF/WDCM
  • Halon/HFP
  • Magazine/Miscellaneous Sprinkling
  • Steering Gear
  • Anchor Windlass
  • Underway Replenishment Systems
  • Air/Gas Systems

Core Competencies
The ideal candidate will synthesize customer requirements into effective system test solutions that acknowledge technical, scheduling, and budgetary constraints. Responsibilities include:
  • Developing and directing the preparation and execution of comprehensive test plans, procedures, and schedules.
  • Coordinating integrated testing activities.
  • Reviewing and evaluating test requirements to ensure the completeness of the testing program.
  • Conducting technical analyses of complete systems and preparing detailed system-level evaluations.

Qualifications
Must possess a minimum of 5 years of experience with a Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program; 3 years with a Master's degree; or 0 years with a PhD. Experience with shipboard deck machinery systems and/or damage control systems is preferred. Candidates should have:
  • Experience operating major equipment in a shipboard environment.
  • Ability to perform engineering evaluations and troubleshoot various electrical and mechanical components.
  • Capacity to assess problems in relation to overall project plans and schedules, formulating appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Strong communication skills for effective interaction with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • An understanding of the critical nature of safety, cost, schedule, and quality in relation to the company's deliverables.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to navigate complex environments.
  • Willingness to work in challenging conditions, including heights and confined spaces.
