Position Overview
The Advanced Propulsion team is seeking a dynamic leader to contribute to the design and development of the next-generation fast attack submarine, SSN(X). This role offers a unique opportunity to influence the design of the Navy's premier attack submarine platform from its inception.

Key Responsibilities
The selected candidate will be an integral part of an engineering team focused on the development of turbine components for turbine generators and main propulsion units. Responsibilities include:
  • Overseeing the mechanical components and systems throughout the phases of concept design, specification development, supplier evaluation, component production, testing, and validation.
  • Conducting research, planning, designing, and developing mechanical products and systems, including instruments, controls, engines, and thermal hydraulic systems.
  • Applying engineering principles to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and electromechanical systems.

Qualifications
To be considered for this role, candidates must possess:
  • A Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program with a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience; or a Master's Degree with 7 years of experience; or a Ph.D. with 4 years of experience.

Preferred Skills
Ideal candidates will have:
  • Technical expertise in turbines and auxiliary system mechanical components.
  • Proficiency in technical writing, with responsibilities for developing and reviewing team deliverables.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with experience presenting to stakeholders.
  • A background in systems engineering or project management, capable of translating technical requirements into comprehensive systems solutions while managing constraints related to technical specifications, schedules, and costs.
