Position Summary:

John H. Northrop & Associates is in search of a skilled Lead Operations Research Systems Analyst to provide support for our esteemed government clientele. This role involves a commitment to travel for various testing locations across the country.

In this capacity, you will engage in intricate data evaluations and produce technical documentation for Science and Technology initiatives aimed at advancing autonomous systems, collaborative operations, and Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) technologies. A significant aspect of your responsibilities will include drafting or assisting in the formulation of testing protocols and reports for scientific testing and experimental activities. You will collaborate closely with project leaders, technical specialists, and testing coordinators to define data requirements and establish meaningful metrics for assessing technological advancements during testing and experimentation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Identify and implement efficient methods for data collection and rapid relevance assessment.
  • Detect data discrepancies, errors, and inconsistencies through comprehensive analysis of data content and structure.
  • Oversee and execute data analysis utilizing mathematical, statistical, and scientific methodologies.
  • Compose, edit, and prepare documentation for reports, manuals, proposals, and other technical publications, with a focus on testing documentation.
  • Upon receiving assignments, conduct research to familiarize yourself with relevant technologies and operational contexts; observe experimental activities; gather and analyze data; and present findings clearly using various formats including text, charts, and graphs.
  • Apply advanced analytical principles to address complex challenges.
  • Develop innovative solutions and analytical approaches to meet testing objectives.
  • Create a Data Management and Analysis Plan (DMAP) that includes metrics development.
  • Design test cards for data collection from operators, ensuring alignment with testing metrics.
  • Collaborate with vendors to format and gather engineering data to support testing objectives.
  • Engage with government testing and technical experts to tailor tests for effective data collection.
  • Perform data analysis using contemporary tools and maintain proficiency in MS Office applications.
  • Effectively analyze, interpret, and present data findings.
  • Generate tabular and graphical representations of engineering data to support test outcomes.
  • Compile analytical results into reports and prepare oral presentations for stakeholders.
  • Ensure all documentation adheres to established standards for clarity, organization, and style; review and recommend changes to published materials.

Qualifications Required:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a STEM discipline.
  • Formal education in Operations Research and Systems Analysis or Data Science, along with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience (10 years of experience may substitute for formal education).
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with an active Secret Clearance.
  • Over 5 years of experience in preparing formal technical documentation for government review.
  • Experience with UAS or robotic systems, particularly in military contexts.
  • Familiarity with Data Item Deliverables and military aviation systems.
  • Understanding of document configuration management and knowledge management practices.
  • Ability to perform tasks with minimal supervision while exercising initiative and independent judgment.
  • Proficient in MS Office products.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience as an experimental test pilot or test engineer.
  • Proven track record in analyzing and documenting scientific testing.
