Job Summary:

The Director of Public Safety will lead the Department of Public Safety in providing effective public safety services. This includes directing patrol services, investigative services, training services, access control, badging services, parking services, and telecommunication services in accordance with system policies and strategic initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct and coordinate the activities of the Department of Public Safety to ensure effective public safety services.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with system policies and strategic initiatives.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to assigned personnel to ensure a safe and secure environment.
  • Collaborate with the System Public Safety Leadership Team to support the System Director of Public Safety and local entity Executive Leader.
  • Ensure operational alignment with strategic PHC objectives and enforce all PHC regulations and applicable state and federal laws.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum education: BS/BA in Business Administration, Criminal Justice, Healthcare Management, or related field required. In lieu of a degree, 7 years of progressive experience in positions of responsibility within Public Safety.
  • Minimum experience: 7 years general security, military, or other public safety experience and 3 years of leadership experience required.
  • Additional qualifications: Certified Healthcare Protection Administrator (IAHSS) preferred, Certified Protection Professional (ASIS) preferred, Active Georgia Peace Officer Standards & Training certification preferred.

Working Conditions:

The Director of Public Safety will work in a fast-paced environment and may be required to carry less lethal weapons such as a Taser CEW and/or an expandable baton. May be required to carry a company-approved firearm. To carry a lethal or less-lethal weapon, the Director must pass and maintain all training requirements.
