This role encompasses a multidisciplinary approach and may be filled by a Psychologist, Social Worker, Marriage and Family Therapist, or a Licensed Professional Mental Health Counselor at the Program Manager/Coordinator level.
Key Responsibilities:- Oversee the professional and administrative management of all readjustment counseling, outreach, referrals, and follow-up care coordination services for eligible individuals within the designated Vet Center Service Area (VSA).
- Supervise a diverse team of mental health professionals across various locations, including Vet Centers and Community Access Points, ensuring effective outreach often in collaboration with a Mobile Vet Center.
- Manage administrative and outreach staff service functions, including resource and fiscal management, budget development, and monitoring control points.
- Lead coordination efforts and briefings with Congressional representatives and their staff.
- Develop and implement Vet Center policies and procedures, setting staff goals and objectives while evaluating the performance of all Vet Center personnel.
- Provide direct readjustment counseling services, both in-person and virtually, adhering to VHA directives and state licensure standards.
- Conduct professional assessments and specialized service planning to address complex readjustment issues presented by clients.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Monday to Friday; 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
Functional Statement:Psychology Program Manager
Qualifications:Applicants must be U.S. Citizens and meet specific educational and licensure requirements as outlined in the position description. A doctoral degree in psychology from an accredited program is essential, along with a valid license to practice psychology at the doctoral level.
Experience:Candidates should possess at least three years of experience as a professional psychologist, with one year at the GS-13 grade level or equivalent.
Skills Required:- Ability to organize work, set priorities, and delegate tasks effectively.
- Knowledge of evidence-based practices and clinical guidelines.
- Strong interpersonal skills to manage diverse groups and individuals.
- Proficiency in analyzing organizational issues and implementing effective solutions.
The position does not inherently include physical requirements that cannot be accommodated in the workplace.
