About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Human Resources Business Partner to join our team at Colorado State University. As a key member of our HR team, you will serve as the primary point of contact for the English, Philosophy, and Race, Gender, and Ethnic Studies departments within the College of Liberal Arts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Onboarding, Offboarding, and Retention:
    • Develop and implement a robust and consistent onboarding experience for new employees, ensuring a seamless transition into their roles.
    • Identify and advise employees on career development opportunities to increase retention rates and fill department knowledge gaps, promoting a culture of growth and development.
    • Conduct exit surveys for voluntarily separating faculty and staff, review data, and implement solutions to aid in the retention of talent, minimizing turnover and its associated costs.
  • Employee Relations, Performance Management, and Culture Initiatives:
    • Create and manage effective and constructive performance evaluation processes for Administrative Professional and Faculty, ensuring fairness and equity in the evaluation process.
    • Communicate performance evaluation requirements and provide training on performance evaluation expectations and best practices, empowering managers to make informed decisions.
    • Guide and instruct department chairs and supervisors on proper handling of personnel matters and provide resources for performance concerns or workplace behavior issues, promoting a positive and respectful work environment.
  • Recruitment and Workforce Planning:
    • Analyze existing workforce and identify areas for proactive recruitment efforts, ensuring a diverse and inclusive workforce.
    • Manage all departmental recruitment efforts, including most effective promotion strategies and venues, to attract top talent.
    • Direct and inform hiring managers on employment types and options, and seek creative and appropriate staffing plans, ensuring compliance with University and College policies.
  • HR Operations and General HR Oversight:
    • Advise managers on employment laws, rules, and policies, ensuring compliance and minimizing risk.
    • Develop, review, and make recommendations for changes to existing College and department policies, promoting a culture of compliance and excellence.
    • File and track evaluations of faculty in compliance with University and College policies, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.
    Requirements
    • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business management, organizational development, or a related field.
    • Two years of professional HR experience, including experience in an HR Information System or Applicant Tracking System.
    • Demonstrated experience effectively managing multiple projects, priorities, and tasks utilizing effective organization and project management techniques.
    • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills and ability to effectively relate complex information to a variety of audiences.
    Preferred Qualifications
    • HR or Payroll experience in a higher education environment.
    • Masters degree in human resources, business administration, organizational development, or a related field.
    • 4 or more years of progressively responsible professional experience in HR.
    • Experience with Workday, PeopleAdmin, Oracle, ADP, or similar personnel system.
