Position Overview

The Senior Vice President of the Multifamily Division will oversee the management of approximately 7,500 multifamily residential units owned and operated by the company in California. This role is pivotal in shaping the strategic direction for future real estate investments, both locally and nationally. The SVP will lead a dedicated team of around 110 professionals, including three Vice Presidents responsible for Development, Asset Management, and Property Management, along with three Regional Property Managers. This position is strategic, financial, and operational, requiring the formulation and implementation of comprehensive business plans and initiatives that drive superior operational and financial performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Foster a collaborative relationship with the CEO to ensure alignment and trust.
  • Enhance operational performance and maximize financial outcomes for the portfolio, focusing on revenue growth and cost management.
  • Improve employee engagement through the development of effective hiring, training, and retention practices.
  • Expand the multifamily portfolio through strategic acquisitions and developments that yield strong returns.
  • Establish and monitor customer service KPIs to ensure exceptional service delivery.
  • Promote a culture of ethics and integrity to eliminate operational blind spots.
  • Manage relationships with external partners and third-party management firms.
  • Present operational updates to senior leadership and board members as required.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures across all properties.
  • Communicate effectively with senior management regarding property performance and operational issues.
  • Deliver exemplary service to all residents and prospective tenants.
  • Review and enhance maintenance, retention, and safety programs.
  • Develop and implement annual operational strategies for the multifamily portfolio.
  • Provide strong leadership and strategic insights across the organization.
  • Collaborate closely with various departments, including Construction, Marketing, Accounting, Human Resources, and Legal.

Qualifications and Skills

  • 15-20 years of management experience in the multifamily sector, with at least 5-10 years in senior leadership roles.
  • Experience overseeing a multifamily portfolio of at least 5,000 units.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, real estate, or a related field; MBA preferred.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills.
  • Proven track record in operational excellence and effective people leadership.
  • Strategic thinker with a collaborative approach to leadership.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated financial acumen and understanding of multifamily metrics.
  • Creative problem solver with a disciplined approach to achieving objectives.

Reporting Structure and Benefits
