Ideal Candidate Profile:

The ideal candidate will possess a robust background as a subcontractor, having worked directly with end-user clients and general contractors in commercial and industrial settings. Extensive experience and established relationships in commercial and industrial construction projects, particularly on the West Coast, are highly desirable. A background in Distribution, Cold Storage, Food & Beverage, and production facilities is advantageous. The candidate should demonstrate a proven history in construction operations management, exceptional leadership capabilities, and a strategic approach to continuous improvement. This individual must effectively drive P&L outcomes, cultivate a culture of quality and safety, and maintain an environment focused on delivering top-tier results.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Formulate and execute operational strategies, policies, and procedures to enhance efficiency and streamline processes.
  • Oversee daily operations to ensure seamless workflow and compliance with quality standards.
  • Manage and optimize resources, including personnel, equipment, and materials, to achieve operational objectives. Lead project teams in resource scheduling and allocation to meet customer and company goals profitably.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement strategies to enhance performance and meet targets.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify process improvement opportunities and implement best practices.
  • Conduct regular evaluations of operational efficiency and effectiveness, providing recommendations for enhancements as necessary.
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and company policies.
  • Lead and mentor an operations team, offering guidance, support, and performance feedback.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and accountability within the operations team.
  • Prepare regular reports and presentations for senior management to communicate operational performance and initiatives.
  • Manage a P&L of $40-60M, making financially sound decisions.
  • Collaborate with the Business Development team and engage directly with potential clients to secure projects.
  • Possess a comprehensive understanding of construction estimating and the ability to read and analyze blueprints and construction drawings, providing value engineering to clients.
  • Continue to modernize and professionalize operations by leveraging technology and best practices.

Qualifications:

  • Equivalent experience and history may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field, although a degree is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in operations/construction management or a similar role, with a successful track record in optimizing processes and achieving results.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire teams to reach objectives.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on data-driven decision-making.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, facilitating effective collaboration across all organizational levels.
  • Proficiency in project management software and other relevant tools.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to shifting priorities.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., General Contractors Licenses) are a plus.
