PRIMARY OBJECTIVE

The Culinary Preparation Specialist is responsible for supporting the mission of The Navigators by fulfilling the duties outlined below, embodying the organization's values and purpose: to advance the Gospel of Jesus and His Kingdom through dedicated service and community engagement.

This role involves the cooking and preparation of a diverse range of food items, including meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables, sauces, stocks, breads, and other culinary products using various kitchen equipment and tools, in accordance with the Daily Prep List.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Completes opening procedures and checklists to ensure readiness for service.
  • Consults the Daily Prep List at the beginning of each shift to understand assigned tasks.
  • Maintains a clean and hygienic work environment, including all kitchen surfaces and equipment.
  • Prepares a variety of food items for cooking using broilers, ovens, grills, fryers, and other kitchen appliances.
  • Follows Standard Recipes for the preparation and portioning of all food items; portions ingredients prior to cooking based on established standards.
  • Consistently adheres to Glen Eyrie’s standard portion sizes, cooking techniques, recipes, quality benchmarks, and kitchen protocols.
  • Handles, stores, and rotates all food products in accordance with safety standards.
  • Reports any equipment malfunctions or food quality issues to the Chef or Line Cook overseeing the kitchen.
  • Completes food preparation tasks during slower periods as required.
  • Ensures proper kitchen closure by following the closing checklist and assisting colleagues as needed.
  • Participates in all scheduled team meetings and contributes ideas for operational improvements.
  • Performs additional related tasks as directed by the Chef or Line Cook in charge.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Commitment to the Statement of Faith and Mission of The Navigators.
  • At least 1 year of experience in food preparation and culinary services.
  • A minimum of 6 months experience in a comparable restaurant or conference center role.
  • Exemplary hygiene and grooming standards.
  • Effective communication skills with kitchen leadership and dining staff.
  • Ability to read and execute printed recipes and plating guidelines.
