General Overview of Responsibilities

We are seeking a dedicated Library Support Specialist to join our team. This full-time position involves providing essential support in a vibrant educational environment. The role encompasses a variety of tasks aimed at enhancing library services and assisting patrons effectively.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist patrons with inquiries and provide guidance as needed.
  • Support the librarian in various tasks, including:
    • Developing educational materials and reports for programs.
    • Maintaining accurate records and preparing reports.
    • Setting up the library for events and multimedia presentations.
    • Ordering library supplies and managing inventory.
    • Coordinating book fairs and fundraising activities.
    • Conducting weeding and inventory checks.
    • Pulling books for classroom activities.
    • Providing circulation support and data entry as required.
  • Assist in creating engaging displays and seasonal decorations.
  • Support makerspace scheduling and maintenance when applicable.
  • Ensure materials are shelved and organized daily.
  • Manage reserves and interlibrary loans, including tracking materials.
  • Coordinate special events and activities for students and teachers.
  • Perform general clerical tasks as assigned.
  • Maintain knowledge of library resources and recommend suitable materials to users.
  • Assist in implementing the Acceptable Use Policy related to digital resources.
  • Provide technical support for library systems as assigned.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to learn new technologies and media.
  • Act as a liaison between the librarian and staff members.
  • Prepare and process new materials for circulation.
  • Repair damaged items as necessary.
  • Maintain library card records for patrons.
  • Respond to communications promptly.
  • Maintain spreadsheets and databases as needed.
  • Keep records of lost or damaged materials.
  • Manage student access to the library.
  • Attend work regularly and engage in job responsibilities.
  • Perform related library tasks as directed by the librarian.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to follow instructions.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, and database management.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively.
  • Self-motivated and capable of multitasking.
