Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate programs and services for library users and staff.
- Provide front-line assistance to the public utilizing library resources.
- Support research efforts and public programming initiatives.
- Engage with diverse community groups to deliver exceptional customer service.
- Assist patrons in navigating emerging technologies and accessing library materials.
- Work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, on a rotating schedule.
Professional Development:
The Richmond Public Library is committed to fostering the growth of its workforce. Selected candidates will have opportunities to participate in relevant training and educational workshops.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in library science, history, computer science, education, or a related field.
- Master's degree in library science from an ALA accredited institution is preferred.
- Two years of experience in a public library setting.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Skills and Abilities:
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong understanding of library standards and digital collections, possess excellent customer service skills, and be capable of planning and facilitating special events and programs.
Work Environment:
Working conditions may involve travel within the city and exposure to various environmental factors. Candidates must be able to perform detailed work on multiple tasks with frequent interruptions.
